Safari 5 came out with the most helpful tool I’ve ever seen: Safari Reader.

Press a button and the main content of the page pop out, leaving behind the sidebars, ads, and other minutiae.

It’s this simple:

1. Open a web page in Safari (you can dowload Safari here)

2. Click on the ‘Reader’ button (circled in red, here):

3. A large screen pops up with the main article/text of the page, and blocks out the ads and sidebar info.

If the article is several pages long, it shows the whole article in one scrolling page.

You’ll see at the bottom of your screen tools for making text larger and smaller, emailing and printing, and, of course, closing the enlarged screen.

There are plugins and other time-consuming fixes that will enlarge fonts, but Safari Reader seems to be ahead of the game. Someone is thinking about the actual people looking at websites.
